Membrane-assisted bioprocess intensification
Dr. Heleen de Wever

VITO

Bioprocess intensification can be achieved by integrating separation processes with microbial and enzymatic conversions. Generic concepts and specific case studies will be presented highlighting how bioprocess performance can be improved through coupling with membrane technology, by achieving high cell densities, in-situ product recovery, selective product separation, production of tailored oligomer fractions, and more.

Biography
Heleen De Wever obtained a PhD in Applied Biological Sciences in 1995. Since 2001, she is Project Manager at the Flemish Institute for Technological Research (VITO). She has extensive experience on bioprocess intensification and on valorization of CO2-rich off-gases through biotechnological approaches.
